Being Rich – The Callie Rogers Lottery Fairytale Begins!
Imagine being on top of the world and having all you can think before you’re fully grown. The world becomes a playground where you have pleasures waiting for you from all sides. Sounds great, doesn’t it? The dream of millions of teenagers was realised by a 16-year old girl, but what does a teenager really know about money? Apparently not that much as Callie Rogers is the living proof that easy money vanishes quickly even before you realise its true value. At the time of winning the jackpot, Callie was working a job, which was paying her £3.60 an hour and was living in foster care. It’s no surprise that she quickly quit her job and reckless spending became her ‘best friend’ – just see the outrageous expenses below!
Life Was A Party Gone Wrong for Callie
Wild partying was Callie Rogers’ main priority once she won almost £2 million. One of her biggest expenses was on drugs and we’re talking about huge numbers – £250,000 for cocaine, which Callie politely denies spending. Breast implants were also added to the picture with the £18,000 she spent on three surgeries. We can’t deny that Callie was also quite generous to her close ones, as she gave them more than £500,000. Needless to say, not all of them were well-wishers and the nightmare doesn’t stop there!
Lottery winner Callie Rogers was immediately approached by ‘fake friends’ who hung out with her only because of her huge earnings and popularity. She felt obliged to buy them drinks at the pub, for example, later discovering the true nature of those people. Due to such types of interactions with lots of ‘friends’, the youngest UK lottery winner later admitted that she struggled with trust issues, but later on started to regain faith in the people surrounding her. Apart from the wild partying and aforementioned expenses, Callie spent huge amounts of money on clothing and sports cars, totaling more than £350,000. Lending money to close friends, who never returned the funds, was also a major issue for the young lottery winner. This and many more complex reasons resulted in almost putting an end to the Callie Rogers lottery saga, with an attempt from the jackpot winner to commit suicide not once, but three times. An interesting fact is that at the end of 2013, Callie was left only with £2000 in the bank – far less than the huge jackpot she won 10 years before.
Back to Reality – Where Is Callie Rogers Now?
With such a huge twist of events, Callie Rogers is currently residing modestly in a £400 rental house and is a mum of three children. She has been with her current boyfriend, Paul, since 2010 and together they have a child named Blake. The former jackpot winner claims she has never been happier after blowing her fortune. Although Callie attempted suicide, she claims that her kids give her purpose and aim to live, so she works as a carer and has devoted her life and energy to taking care of her own family. Fortunately, the mum of three has learned some very important life lessons and persists on increasing the minimum age of lottery participants from 16 to 18. She rightfully claims that at 16 years of age, people are too young to bear the consequences of such a huge prize. Callie Rogers’ story proves that money is power only if it is used right, but at the same time discredits it as a major factor for a happy life!
